European Solar Days – For a Bright Future

The European Solar Days successfully promote the use of a free unlimited renewable energy source available everywhere to everyone. What began as a grass-roots effort in Austria in 2002 has turned into a full-blown European campaign, with thousands of events taking place all over Europe and attracting hundreds of thousands of citizens eager to show and share their enthusiasm for solar energy.

This year, the European Solar Days are celebrated from 1 to 19 May 2013 in more than 20 countries, all over the continent. On Wednesday 15 May, the European Photovoltaic Industry Association - EPIA, and the European Solar Thermal Industry Federation - ESTIF, organised a Networking Cocktail in the Renewable Energy House in Brussels to celebrate the great success of the European Solar Days.

On this occasion, Mr. Stefan Schurig, Director Climate Energy at the World Future Council, gave a keynote speech that shed the light on the achievements of solar energy towards a sustainable energy future in Europe, and its potential role for an ethical life and society.

In this European year of citizens, we celebrated the achievements of one of the most successful grass-root campaigns with an inspirational discussion on the potential of solar energy for a sustainable future.
