European Solar Days: For a bright future!

15 days to raise awareness on the contribution of solar energy to Europe’s energy independence and security

Brussels, 4 April 2011- On the 1st of May 2011 the European Solar Days (ESD) will envelop the entire continent, aiming to promote the advantages of properly harnessing the energy of the sun. During two weeks, over 5,000 events will take place in 17 countries all around Europe. The campaign will conclude with a panel debate in Brussels on the 26th of May tackling the critical question of solar’s contribution to Europe’s energy independence and security of supply.

European Solar Days: The sun shines all over Europe

Brussels, 30 April 2010 - An increasing number of countries will participate in the 3rd edition of the European Solar Days from 1 to 16 May 2010. Around 6.600 events are planned in 17 European countries for this year’s Solar Days campaign, involving several hundred thousands of citizens at local level. Solar energy is already contributing significantly to the reduction of CO2 emissions, supplying millions of European households with green electricity and renewable heating and cooling.

Munich, 25 May 2009: The second European Solar Days were celebrated from 15 to 22 May with more than 500 000 citizens participating in 7 000 events in 15 European countries. Solar PV and Solar Thermal are replacing fossil fuels and nuclear energy in Europe.
